Series: Dream Casters (Book 1)
Genre: YA Paranormal
Publisher: Fire Quill Publishing
Release Date: May 28 2015
Edition/Formats Available In: eBook

Blurb/Synopsis:
Mr. Sandman, send me a dream, ta da da da.....Seventeen year old Chasity Blake knows the Sandman is just a silly children's story parents tell their children to get them to sleep. At least she thought it was, until the day a mysterious, light golden sand appeared in her hands during a high school prank that went horribly wrong. A sand that has the power to send anyone it touches into a deep, sound sleep.
Fearing she had lost her mind, Chasity soon discovers the shocking truth of her heritage- she is a Dream Caster. Chasity was never supposed to be raised on the Domain, or what humans call Earth and she is forced to return to her true birth place, Revera – the world of Dreams.
However, in Revera there is no balance between good, the Light Casters, and darkness, the Shadow Casters, and Chasity is caught square in the middle. She soon learns that there is no place for anyone containing both the light and the darkness within them, and the shocking truth that if anyone in Revera ever discovered her shadow self, Chasity would be thrown into the Oblivion – the world of Nightmares.
Dreams are always more than they seem, and this time Chasity is going to discover just how different they can be.

"Crap, crap, crap,” were the only words that left my mouth as I took each painful step. Rollins knew just how to give ballet lessons that were straight from Nick’s pit. A stabbing pain ran up my calf and I had to stop as it went into a spasm. It should teach me to be late for class.
If it hadn’t been for Clare Bean, yip, her surname was Bean which led to plenty of teasing when she was little, I would’ve been on time. I would’ve had that extra ten minutes to stretch.
We had always been friends, Clare and I, since we were crawling around in diapers. Her house was a couple of houses down from mine and our moms were all too happy to bring us over for play dates. But since Ass and Abs had come into the picture, Taylor Winchester, Clare had gone all gaga and friendship didn’t seem to mean a thing to her anymore.
At first he hadn’t been too bad. He’d always had a thing for Clare but a month ago at his party, we were sort of trapped in the basement alone for a couple of minutes and he’d declared his ‘undying love and affection’ to me. Me, Chasity Blake, or just Chas as my friends call me, let me rephrase, my friends used to call me, as I’d rejected his affection, using finger quotes. Every girl my age knew what guys, especially the once that looked like Ty, meant when they declared their affection to you.
Clare was my best friend, what else was I supposed to do. I’d thought the idiot would feel like stinky feet and forget about it, but no, he thought that I should be taught a lesson, and told Clare that I’d made a move on him. She’d actually believed the dog.
Now for the past four weeks I’d had to endure their humiliation on a daily basis. First it was the posters on every locker with guys names crossed out. The entire baseball team from what it looked like, and the heading was Chasity Blake’s To Do List.
It was so lame, but coming from her, it hurt. It hurt a lot.
I thought everyone would forget about that in a week, but they didn’t and more rumors were added on.
Then came the exploding paint in my locker. I struggled to get the red paint out of my hair and had walked around with it for an entire week. My mom almost had a heart attack though, acted all strange and was ready to pack up and leave.
Today, they locked me in the girl’s bathroom. I crawled out the window, which wasn’t easy, and that was why I was late today.
Still, I tried to ignore it, even though it came from my best friend. Standing up to them would only cause more shit.
As I kept walking the fork in the road came nearer. One path led through the city. Five traffic lights with many twist and turns flashed though my head. The other road led past the lake. No traffic lights and it was a shorter route, but my mother disliked me taking those. Still today was the perfect day to make an exception.
I chose the lake and started to think about my crappy situation again and the regret of telling Mom not to pick me up from ballet had really started to bite me in the ass. Literally, it was like a tiny stabbing jolts of pain on my bum that ached with every step I took.
The next couple of years of school would probably suck if there wasn’t an end to Clare’s pranks soon and my father, sorry, step-father, Tim “the military man” Swanson, wasn’t going to move just because of the social life epidemic I was experiencing.
I never understood why Mom had married him. There wasn’t a time that I couldn’t remember Tim not being in our lives, but she was so different from him. She was a free spirit, loved to paint and for some reason she had a thing about dreams. She’s always asked me, since I was little, what I dreamt about the night before. It was creepy to people that didn’t know my mom but it didn’t bother me much.
Tim was easy to sum up. It was always YES SIR! and NO SIR! although he didn’t like the NO very much, and loved the HOW HIGH DO YOU WANT ME TO FREAK’N JUMP type of thing. Our relationship never used to be like that, but the older I got, the harder he became on me. Mom stood up for me a lot though, but I hated that they ended up fighting over stupid things I didn’t really want to do.
So lately my relationship with the only dad I knew was everything except the relationship a father and daughter should have.
Other family, I don’t have them. It was always just Tim and her.
As I was pondering my lack of family, something to the left caught my eye. It was parked right in front of the lake and my entire body felt as if someone had pulled a plug and let all the air out. It was Ty’s pick up, and I knew who else would be with him inside it.
When noises from Derek Benson came, I knew it wasn’t just the two of them, but the entire freak’n football team. They sometimes came here after practice and right now, I wished that I’d taken the other stupid road.
I watched as Clare’s figure jumped off his truck. She wasn’t as tall or as lean as me, thanks to the Asian blood that flowed through me, but she was not chubby either. She was medium built, not that there was anything wrong with it.
Here we go!
“Oh look, if it isn’t the baseball team’s slut,” Clare shouted loudly and everyone turned and laughed. If these were strangers that did this, it would’ve been different, but they weren’t; they used to be my friends. We used to laugh together, made jokes at the table and even pass notes around in class, even Nichole, she used to make up the rest of our little trio, had her nose in a teen magazine and pretended that nothing was about to happen.
I knew I should’ve just walked away, but today was different. I was tired, I ached from head to toe, I was in my freak’n tutu still, I’d just pulled my pants over my leotard and exchanged my ballet shoes for sneakers. I really didn’t have the time for her little charades of insecurity.
“The baseball team! Really? Now we know who has all the intellectual stem cells between the two of us,” I said and carried on walking.
“And who has all the grace and beauty,” Clare chirped.
“And also a shallow mind.” I couldn’t help myself. This is what happened when I started. It was like my mouth had its own passageway straight to my brain and I couldn’t do anything to switched it off.
“Oh, yeah, shallow minded. At least I know what loyalty means, bitch.”
I laughed again. “Loyalty. Can you even spell it, Clare?” Instant regret jumped through my core. Hurt rose briefly in Clare’s eyes but vanished just as fast. She was Dyslexic and I had been helping her with words ever since we were just tiny little things running around.
“I know how to spell slut, bitch, and skank.”
“Well, sorry to burst your bubble, sweetheart. I never did anything with Taylor, but wait, I tried to tell you that, and you still believed the son of a bitch.”

Adrienne Woods was born and raised in South Africa, where she still lives with her husband and two beautiful little girls. She always knew she was going to be a writer, but it only started to really happen about four years ago. In her free time―if she gets any because moms don’t really have free time―she loves to spend it with friends, whether it’s a girl’s night out, or just watching a movie. She’s a very chilled person. Her writing career started with Firebolt, book one in the Dragonian series. There will be four books in total, including a further two to three books, which will be stories that take place within the Dragonian series. Her other series, Dream Casters, will be released mid-2015. She also writes in different genres, and her woman’s fiction, The Pregnancy Diaries, will be published under a pseudonym. And then, she has a paranormal series by the name of the Aswang series, which will consist of about ten novels. And if that wasn’t enough, there is another series, Guardians of Monsters, which will be released in 2016.

About B.C. Johnson:

Born in Southern California, B.C. Johnson has been writing since he realized it was one of the few socially acceptable ways to tell people a bunch of stuff you just made up off the top of your head. He attended Savanna High School in Anaheim, and an undisclosed amount of college before deciding that weird odd jobs were a far greater career path.

This lead him to such exciting professions as: aluminum recovery machinist, lighting designer, construction demo, sound mixer, receptionist, theater stage hand, wedding security, high school custodian, museum events manager, webmaster, IT guy, copywriter, and one memorable night as the bouncer at a nightclub. He is trying very hard to add “vampire hunter” and “spaceship captain” to that list.

He currently lives in Garden Grove with his supernal wife Gina, his half-corgi, half-muppet dog Luna, and his new half-grayhound, half-living-tornado-of-destruction Kaylee. He also spends time with his two brothers, his parents, and his close friends, whose primary pursuit are usually healthy debates about movie minutiea. When he’s not working or writing, he’s been to known to pursue all conceivable geeky avenues of interest including but not limited to video games, the sort of TV shows/movies Benedict Cumberbatch might star in, graphic novels, podcasts, funny gifs, the whole thing.

He’s also been known to apply his special brand of hyperbole and mania to pop-culture humor essays for various websites that can be found on his homepage, bc-johnson.com. B.C. also has a high school noir short story called “The Lancer” available on Kindle.

Deadgirl is his first novel.

Disclaimer: I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, as follows.

This is one of those books where you cannot help but to like the main character. Always a good start! She is very likable and very much true to teenage years, in my opinion.

I liked the idea of being dead but not dead and had my fingers crossed for the outcome I wished for, and enjoyed the story as it rolled along, although I was a tad confused in the beginning.  The transitions threw me, here and there. I was actually amazed that the author is a man as I put this post together because I didn't read the author bio or end of book stuff, etc. BC Johnson did a great job of crafting a teenage girl!

A nice, solid YA read that I'd be happy to recommend to those who fit the age group!

{BOOK REVIEW} Call Me Grim by Elizabeth Holloway

Book Title: Call Me Grim
Author: Elizabeth Holloway
Publisher: Month9Books
Publishing Date: September 9, 2014
Length:
Source:publisher in exchange for an honest review
Book Blurb

The truck should have turned Libbi Piper into a Libbi Pancake -- and it would have, too, if Aaron hadn't shown up and saved her life. The problem? Aaron's the local Grim Reaper... and he only saved Libbi's life because he needs someone to take over his job. Now, Libbi has two days to choose between dying like she was supposed to, or living a lonely life as Death Incarnate. Talk about a rock and a hard place.

And the choice goes from hard to sucktastic when her best friend shows up marked: condemned as a future murderer. Libbi could have an extra week to stop the murder and fix the mark... but only if she accepts Aaron's job as Reaper, trapping herself in her crappy town forever, invisible and inaudible to everyone except the newly dead. But, if she refuses? Her best friend is headed straight for Hell.

Disclaimer: I received a review copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest review as follows.

I was delighted to be offered a chance to read this book in exchange for a review. I've recently found a few books here and there that deal with reapers and have become more and more interested in this kind of storyline. Morbid? Perhaps. But I like that justice you see displayed and the compassion that often comes with it.

This book is no different when you're at the reaping part. Aaron displays great compassion for the recently deceased and there is fear for those who have to go to the Darkness. But the main storyline focuses around the new soon-to-be reaper and all that she discovers about the current Grim Reaper, her best friend, etc.

I think I am too old for this book and its demographic. While I enjoyed reading the novel, I tended to roll my eyes a lot especially when it came to one of her best friends and the fight ("If you don't know why I'm mad, then you're stupid!" etc.) or how Libbi's idea of fixing her best friend is to lie to him and tell him what he wants to hear or how, even after he causes her to get stitches from a display of violent temper, that violence is swept under the rug, especially when she learns about Aaron's past.  (Did you love that run-on? :D) I think I'm at the stage of my life where my tolerance for this is just absolutely gone.

I am not a fan of Kyle: I found him manipulative, I disliked his tendency towards violence (doesn't matter he didn't mean to hurt HER, he meant to hurt someone), and disliked his woe-is-me crap.

The ending could be termed a cliffhanger, but you could also read this as a standalone and fill in the "after" with your own imagination. If there's a second book for the "after", then hey! It was a cliffhanger! If not, then your imagination can take over.

Thanks to Month9Books for the read!

GOODREADS | AMAZON

Full Disclosure: Review copy requested at Xpresso Book Tours; granted in exchange for a completely honest review.

I opened this book a couple of hours ago and read it in one sitting. Despite being a ghost story, I found the book utterly refreshing and different from other books I have been reading lately. With a touch of romance, a lot of sadness, a bit of horror, and a touch of hope, this book kept me glued to my kindle, utterly wrapped in the story.

Mary Hades narrowly escaped death at the psychiatric hospital when a doctor went on a killing rampage. She was saved by the ghosts she could see, but she couldn't save her roommate, Lacey. Lacey sticks around in ghost form and continues to be Mary's best friend.

Mary's parents take her on holiday to a little town called Nettleby. Mary is nearly eighteen and not enthused about the trip. She is even more discouraged when, upon entering the town, she sees an apparition she calls a Thing, which usually appears to warn her about something bad...

The vacation starts off with the death of a little boy and rolls from there. Mary quickly makes friends with a couple people at the campsite and a local guy named Seth Lockwood, who she met when she went to the fair.

Seth has a secret, Mary has her secret, and the two of them will need to trust one another if they hope to survive.

The story was well wrought and gave you little glimpses just so, enticing you to read on. I liked how the story resolved and was left open ended for more. You could happily finish this novel and let it be; there is no cliffhanger, just an opportunity for more. And from what I can see on Goodreads...there is more! YAY!

YA horror/paranormal as it involves murder and ghosts, this would be appropriate for mature middle schoolers and up. I've added the rest in this series to my wishlist as I really enjoyed it!

ARC REVIEW: CURSED (Book one VOODOO NIGHTS) by LIZZY FORD

Cursed by Lizzy Ford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Disclaimer: I received an ARC to read. This review was not required and it's my honest opinion. This book releases November 17th, which is approximately a thousand years from now. Good luck in waiting for it! :D

Warning: Lizzy Ford writes books that suck you into a vortex of "stfu I am reading" and when it spits you out at the end, you're basically on your knees begging for more or just shell-shocked at the cliffhanger. Actually, you're probably both. Just so you know.

Warning No 2: CLIFFHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANGER zomg

Review: I can't even...I don't know where to start. I do my best not to give away ANYTHING in the book when writing my reviews and I've written and re-written this review a couple of times before walking away and coming back again. I really want to rant, I really want to praise, I really just want to stalk amazon and poke at Lizzy's assistants, publishers, amazon, and anyone that could possibly sneak me more on this story in any way possible.

Obviously, this book revolves around voodoo, the culture, the traditions, the legends. An urban gang named Loa Ogoun, after the god, formed after Hurricane Katrina to help protect and preserve the families of voodoo. There are four original families, three of whom still reside in New Orleans: Dubois, Touissant, and Igbos. The return of the fourth family is prophesied and with that return can come great evil.

Adrienne St Croix has won a scholarship to a prestigious school in New Orleans. She moves from Atlanta, Georgia to New Orleans to live with her father so she may attend this school. Jayden Washington is the hot quarterback, son of the rich “black Steve Jobs.” As Jayden starts school, his father reveals a secret family history to him. A burden, really.

Of COURSE you know that Adrienne and Jayden are bound to cross paths. She’s petite, pretty, and gifted with a marvelous voice and Jayden is the jock of the school, revered and desired.

I am fascinated by magical tales, voodoo, paranormal, etc. This was no different. Voodoo is especially fascinating for as much as is revealed and reported, there is so much more that is swept under the rug, hidden behind locked doors, and only passed down from family to family.

Even when you have multiple families working to preserve their ways, they withhold information from one another as you see Marie Touissant do from Candace Igbos. I am probably going to be the only one to say this, but…

I DID NOT LIKE JAYDEN WASHINGTON. There are characters in this book that I just couldn’t stand. I don’t know if it’s because I come from a more privileged (although not like Jayden’s) background than Adrienne does, but her father was REVOLTING. (And by privileged, I mean I have 2 parents who love me and when I was a kid, I was not given adult responsibilities like help me pay the rent!) I don’t see how any parent treats their kid that way! She’s not even an adult and she’s paying her own way?! I understand chipping in because times are hard and you want to ease the burden on your parents. I do. But then he turns around and chastises her with thoughtless, jerk statements like “that fancy puffed cereal you like ain’t free.”

Okay, so that’s her dad. But I didn’t like Jayden for the SAME reasons. Firstly, while his Uncle Tommy’s comments are messed up, Jayden has no love or respect for his grandmother. He dismisses her as crazy with her “voodoo” crap. You know, my grandmother was very superstitious as well and I never dismissed it. You, kid, are a rude, insufferable jackass. Then, he is thinking about how attracted he is to Adrienne, but since she’s poor and his daddy is rich, “can’t be anything serious between us but I wanna have a little fun and won’t be told I can’t by anyone!” You typical jerk male. UGH! *slaps him*

I also didn’t like him for lying to Adrienne, not warning her of the malicious intent from Kimmie (that selfish, vicious COW) that he KNEW about well ahead of time (he could have WARNED Adrienne!!!!), and then he is dismissive towards her as well, after asking for a tarot reading and dismissing it TO HER FACE as “a card trick.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME? And she is STILL fawning over him? No. Just no.
No amount of money makes this kid worthwhile. Besides, he’s 17. It’s not his money anyway. It’s his father’s! Just because the dad is rich doesn’t mean this kid will be. The dad could leave it all to charity or his sisters. Not that Adrienne really thinks about his money; she’s bowled over by his handsome looks. She does think about it, but not in a money-grubbing, gold-digging way. Still, I’d rather she choose Rene, who is very what-you-see-is-what-you-get. I want Adrienne to be with Rene. Rene is rough on the outside, but gooey on the inside. He has this strict street code he sticks to that I find honorable and admirable. Jayden better be doing a whole lot of self-sacrificing, heroic, white knight on a fiery steed kind of crap in the upcoming books if she is going to choose him. (Are you listening to me, Adrienne? So far the one who is looking out for you and cares if you end up in a ditch isn’t Jayden; it’s Rene!)

Adrienne has to face some hard truths about the sister whose disappearance she is looking into. She already knew that Therese had crossed the line into black magic (blood magic) and its evil ways, but she didn’t know just HOW much. And oh look…another betrayal from someone that is supposed to be on her side. How is she ever going to learn to trust the right person? While I pitied her, I was also frustrated with her on this point.

The story is twists and twines and reaches faaaaaaaaar back into the past and messes with the present. And you just KNOW that the resolution should lie with the Chosen, the Devil, and the Warrior. And you THINK you know who is who, but then…you’re wrong. Or are you?!
So as I’m getting all revved up, CLIFFHAAAAAAAAANGER. Major things happen and then no matter how hard I was tapping on my kindle, it stubbornly remained at 100%. I can’t…I can’t even.
Hi, my name is Tiffany and I’m officially a LizzyFord-addict. There is no cure.

Xpresso Book Blitz! NO ANGEL by HELEN KEEBLE with giveaway!

No Angel by Helen Keeble
Published by: HarperTeen
Publication date: October 8th 2013
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

Synopsis:

Rafael Angelos just got handed the greatest gift any teenage boy could ever dream of. Upon arriving at his new boarding school for senior year, he discovered that he is the ONLY male student. But what should have been a godsend isn’t exactly heaven on Earth.

Raffi’s about to learn that St. Mary’s is actually a hub for demons-and that he was summoned to the school by someone expecting him to save the day. Raffi knows he’s no angel-but it’s pretty hard to deny that there’s some higher plan at work when he wakes up one morning to discover a glowing circle around his head.

Helen Keeble’s debut novel, Fang Girl, has been praised for its pitch-perfect teen voice, and VOYA called it “refreshing and reminiscent of Louise Rennison’s Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series.” No Angel brings you angels and demons like you’ve never seen them-complete with the wry humor of Vladimir Tod, sinfully irreverent romance, and some hilariously demonic teenage dilemmas.

EXCERPT

No Angel excerpt
Our hero, Rafael Angelos, is in his first English lesson at his new school. His desk partner is Michaela Dante, a dark, smoldering beauty. Needless to say, Raffi is not exactly giving the teacher, Ms. Wormwood, his full attention…

“So let’s hear from the male perspective. If you would tell us your thoughts, Raffi?”
What few coherent thoughts I had at that moment were mainly about the view down Michaela’s top, but I didn’t think that was the sort of male perspective Ms. Wormwood meant. Dragging myself back into the everyday world, I tried to remember what the teacher had been wittering on about. Something about the summer reading assignment? What was the summer reading assignment? I hadn’t even read the back cover when I’d thrown it in my bag this morning. I glanced down now in search of inspiration, and discovered I’d taken out my Biology textbook. No help there.
Ms. Wormwood’s look of friendly expectation was starting to slide into the wary expression of a teacher who senses imminent bullshit. “Well,” I said, stalling for time. “I thought it was very interesting.” I snuck a peek at the cover of Michaela’s book, catching a glimpse of a winged and gratuitously shirtless angel tumbling in flames out of a dark sky. No doubt it was some sort of girly romance, all forbidden love and sparkly boyfriends.
“I found it very inspirational,” I said, deciding that I might as well go for broke. Michaela, still searching my face intently, drew in a sharp breath; encouraged, I ploughed on. “I really identified with, uh, him.” I gestured at the angel guy.
Ms. Wormwood did not look like she was buying this. “Could you be more specific?”
Not really. “Well, his struggle totally resonated with me,” I improvised wildly. “And the way that he decided to go for what he wanted, despite everything trying to stop him.”
Ms. Wormwood’s eyebrows shot up. “Interesting. So you would call him the hero of the piece?”
“Absolutely,” I said, hoping I sounded confident. “That sort of tenacity is definitely heroic.”
Ms. Wormwood beamed at me, as a little murmur ran around the classroom. “Very good, Raffi. I do like a student who rejects dogma and draws her — his — own conclusions. Why don’t you read us the famous quote summing up his argument? Lines 258 to 263.”
I cast Michaela a sideways glance, to see if she was rapt with admiration at my sensitive nature yet — and was met with a narrow-eyed glare that suggested that if I asked to share her book I was likely to get walloped over the head with it. Recoiling, I hastily fumbled my own copy out of my bag, trying to work out what I’d done wrong. Had I come across as too nerdy? Too pretentious? What?
Finding the right page, I squinted at the text. Oh, great. Poetry.
“Here at last
We shall be free;
the Almighty hath not built
Here for his envy, will not drive us hence:
Here we may reign secure, and in my choice
To reign is worth ambition though in Hell:
Better to reign in Hell, than serve in Heaven.”
… Huh?
“Excellent, pet,” Ms. Wormwood said, as I blinked at the page. “Now, who can tell me what Satan means by his speech to the fallen angels here?”
Satan? What the hell kind of romance was this? I checked the back cover as half a dozen hands shot into the air. Paradise Lost, it said. By John Milton. Apparently it was all about the war between God and the Devil.
Who I’d just held up as a paragon of manly virtue.
Whoops.
No wonder Michaela had glared at me. She’d now let her hair swing down like a curtain between us, hiding her face. I stifled the urge to groan and thump my head on the desk. This day just kept getting worse and worse.
Busy kicking myself, I barely noticed Michaela whisper something Italian-sounding under her breath. Then her fingers brushed my thigh.
Ms. Wormwood broke off mid-sentence. “Is there something wrong, Raffi?”
From flat on the floor, I managed to make a strangled sort of noise, shaking my head. Aware of all the eyes staring at me, I quickly picked up my overturned chair and reseated myself. Burying my face in my book, I waited until all the girls had turned back to Ms. Wormwood. Then I cautiously peered over the pages at Michaela.
Her face was still hidden, but somehow she knew I was looking. “And now,” she murmured, in a low, throaty voice that made every syllable sound like an invitation to a dirty weekend, “I know everything about you.” Her knees bumped mine under the desk as she turned toward me. “Do you know what I’m going to do?”
I maintained my smoldering, mysterious silence, mainly because my brain had utterly fused.
Michaela pushed back her hair. Her blood-red lips curved upwards, slowly.

“I’m going,” she whispered, her black eyes burning with passion, “to kill you.”

“I loved how the author took a different
approach to writing a love story in modern times with the paranormal element present.
I thought it was absolutely wonderful and refreshing.
Marvelous!” Kathy H (Amazon Reviewer)

“I will admit I scoffed at the way it
started but in the end I had fallen in love with this story…completely
untraditional it was a very original idea, not to mention modern.
This story had
such a good plot and the story structure was sound.”

About the Author

Mia Hoddell lives in the UK with her family and two cats. She spends most of her time writing or reading and loves anything paranormal. Mia always had a love of writing but never reading. She was more interested in sports and hated sitting still - despite getting three poems published before the age of sixteen. Finally though, she found some novels that captured her interest and developed a love of reading which is now one of her favourite hobbies.

Mia began with poems before moving on to short stories. Although she enjoyed this, Mia found she had too much to tell with too little space, so later on she created her first series 'The Wanderer Trilogy' and from there other ideas have emerged. With a total of nine books planned at this moment, she is busy working on her second series 'Elemental Killers' before moving onto the next idea on her ever growing list.

***Excerpt***

Happy with the amount of photos I had collected I started to head back out of the forest, still flicking through my shots. As well as close ups, I had taken a few landscapes and as I was almost at the edge of the forest I noticed something in one of the photographs that made me stop.
In the left hand corner was a figure that looked mostly human, but was blurred as if they were moving on the spot.
A cold shudder shot through me.
Looking over my shoulder I became slightly panicked and felt as if someone was following me.
My eyes flicked and searched the shadows. Even though there was no sign that anything had ever been behind me, the forest looked different now - dark and threatening.
Instinctively I broke away and ran, still clutching the camera that was displaying the freaky image. Surrounded by trees I didn’t stop until I was free of the forest and back in the open light and sight of my house.
Throwing open my door, I slumped against the inside of it, regaining my breath from the short sprint. Once I had recovered I looked down at the photo once more, just to make sure that I hadn’t been seeing things. The old saying “the camera never lies,” came into my mind and for the first time I wished it not to be true. Sure enough though, as I looked down at the screen, the figure was still there and this time I noticed a red and orange glow around where its feet should have been. The image almost looked like the person was on fire but I thought I would have surely noticed if there had been a burning man in front of me.
