{Blog Hop Challenge} CLEAN OUT YOUR E-READER (#COYER) hosted by Fantasy is More Fun & Because Reading is better than real life
My blogger buddy, +Michelle from BECAUSE READING IS BETTER THAN REAL LIFE is hosting a challenge and I had to sign up for it because...
I have a kindle freebie, netgalley, one-click problem.
It's bad. But it's so good. But it's so bad.
I can include any book I got for free or paid less than $4.99 for. This includes ARCs, kindle freebies, gifts, one-clicks, etc. I just have to review them on my blog, on goodreads, etc. The trick is to read as much as I can squeeze in and clean out this e-reader!
I'm separating them into categories to try and be organized about this! I will update this list with
And I know! This is a HUGE list. I read about 4-5 books a week on average, so it IS possible, but...YIKES. :D Here goes nothing!
| ARCs / BLOG TOURS / NETGALLEY | amazon.com freebies / <$4.99 / gifts |
| Deer in the Headlights | |
| Snake in the Grass | |
| Released (Mia Fox) | |
| Alert the Media | |
| Xander's Chance Fangirl Clutch (I am Just Junco #1) | |
ZOMG This is another busy month. I kinda go nutso with the tours, huh? I have some life changes coming up, soon, however, so I will need to cut back on the blog tours that include reviews. :( Sucks, but c'est la vie. Don't you worry though! I plan on signing up for plenty of spotlights and guest posts because I LOVE telling y'all about authors and their newest works! :)
Update: November 26, 2013 -- 23 done for COYER. Geez. I love it, but it's been hard!
Update: November 28, 2013 -- I didn't get to all the ones I wanted to, but I'm pretty pleased with what I did. Of course, all I did was read this month. Not that I'm complaining...it was AWESOME! Thanks to Fantasy is More Fun and Because Reading for hosting this! <3 mwah="" p="">3>

Between truth and
deception, between justice and abuse, a stonewiser stands alone with the
stones. Or so begins the stonewiser's oath. But what happens when a rebellious
stonewiser discovers that lies have tainted the stone tales?
In a world
devastated by the rot's widespread destruction, only the tales preserved in the
stones can uphold the truth and defend the Goodlands. In this world, stone
truth is valued above anyone's word, and stonewisers are the only ones capable
of retrieving the tales from the stones, the only link between past and
present, order and chaos.
Sariah is the most
gifted stonewiser of her generation, but her talent does not atone for her
shortcomings. A survivor of the Guild's brutal training, she is curious,
willful and disobedient. Yet not even Sariah is prepared for what she finds
when she steals into the Guild's Sacred Vaults: A mayhem of lies and intrigues
that shatters her world.
Hunted, persecuted,
and betrayed, Sariah must make an unlikely alliance with Kael, a cynical rebel
leader pledged to a mysterious quest of his own. The fate of their dying world
depends on their courage to overcome centuries of hatred and distrust. But not
even the grueling journey has prepared them for what they are about to
discover. Because nothing is really as it seems, and the truth is more
intricate and devastating than they ever suspected....

Sariah's reward for
revealing the stone truth: a death sentence.
The executioners
have arrived and Sariah, the most powerful and controversial stonewiser of her
generation, has been judged and condemned to death. For the last few months,
Sariah has been hiding in the Rotten Domain, trying to find the elusive tale
capable of uniting a divided people teetering on the brink of a catastrophic
war. As she is dragged to the nets, where an eel rave has been stirred to
maximize her execution's gruesome spectacle, Sariah knows she cannot escape her
sentence. She is guilty of the crimes for which she's been condemned and no
one, not even Kael, the Domain's foremost rebel leader, can save her from the
executioners' righteous justice.
But Kael is more
than just a formidable warrior; he is also a cunning strategist and Sariah's
steadfast lover. Risking all he has, he bargains with the greedy executioners,
bribing them into delaying Sariah's execution, buying her precious time and a
last chance to realize the mysterious legacy that the stones have imposed on
her. The agreement is hardly a reprieve. It encourages a mob to hunt Sariah for
ransom, banishing her from the Rotten Domain and imposing heavy fines on anyone
who tries to help her. Worse, it requires her to wear an irremovable,
mysterious bracelet. If she doesn't return to the executioners with the tale in
hand when the allotted time expires, Kael and his kin will be ruined and the
bracelet will kill her.
Hunted by the
executioners, the Guild and the Shield, Sariah and Kael embark on a desperate
search. Their journey will take them to the depths of the Rotten Domain, where
Sariah must wise a guiding beam out of the wild tale stored in a stone-carved
game. The beam will lead them through the warring Goodlands—where the rot is on
the move—to the land beyond the Bastions, where a zealous people guard an
ancient stone that could hold the key to their search. Along the way, Sariah
and Kael must overcome deadly traps, torture, heartbreak, agonizing defeat and
devastating losses in a desperate attempt to avoid war and answer the
mysterious call of the stone.

Book Description:
"Do you know
why the stones grieve?" the woman said to Kael. "Not for a soul, I'll
tell you that much. The stones don't grieve for the passing of a lowly woman or
the madness of a smitten man. They don't mourn death, or lost love, or broken
dreams, or loneliness or despair. Yet you will make them wail. For you, the
stones will weep."
In their most
perilous adventure yet, Sariah, the rogue stonewiser who stunned the world by
discovering lies in the stones and defying the all-powerful Guild, and Kael,
the rebel leader who against all odds loves her, must find a stolen child, the
only one capable of setting rule upon chaos, preserving the future of
stonewising, and defeating the rot ravaging the land. The stakes couldn't be
higher. The coveted child they seek is said to be an abomination. He is also
their son.
It's a daunting
challenge. Their child is in the hands of a deceitful enemy who has fled to a
mysterious ruler, a rival deity with unfathomable powers pledged to destroy the
goddess and eradicate stonewising from the world. Worse yet, the land is
engulfed in strife, the rot is spreading faster than ever, and Kael is haunted
by a malevolent curse compelling him to kill the woman he loves.
In a dangerous
journey fraught with shocking twists, Sariah and Kael must do more than defeat
their foes, unravel the mystifying forces vying to control their lives, and
discover the mysteries of ages past. They must challenge the stones, defy the
goddess and confront their cursed fates. Because only by embracing their
destinies do they stand a chance to save their child and their world.

Description:
Tessa Von
Hellengaard is a real witch. Magical spells aside, she’s snarky and selfish,
and the other witches in her silent spell coven are fed up with her. Their plan
to reform Tessa involves taking away her magic, saddling her with one hundred
extra pounds, and sending her to a weight loss spa.
For good measure
they call in Liam Kennedy, a charming and sexy fairy godfather, to teach her
some manners. Desperate to regain her magic and determined to shed the weight,
Tessa soon realizes that protecting her heart from Liam will prove to be her
greatest challenge.
EXCERPT!
“Hey,
lady, anyone ever tell you you’re a real witch?”
“More times than you can imagine.” Contessa Von
Hellengaard, Tessa to her few friends and many enemies alike, eyed the
obstinate construction worker who blocked the path of her sleek black Mercedes.
She wondered how this mere mortal would like being turned
into a fluffy skunk. Her fingers itched to work their magic, but she kept them
gripped on the steering wheel. She was already in enough trouble with the Upper
Hallows Witch Council without casting what they would consider another
unnecessary spell. If she was detained any longer she’d be late for her meeting
with said council. Tessa knew they were already ticked off enough without her
adding another infraction to their precious list.
She leaned out the window. “Remove your overfed self from
my way immediately. I need to use this road and I don’t have time for your
ridiculous detour.”
“Guess you should’ve used your broomstick then because
there ain’t no way I’m letting your car get through here.” He crossed his beefy
arms over his chest.
He seemed altogether too amused with his juvenile humor
for Tessa’s liking. Broomstick indeed. She revved the motor to let him know she
meant business.
He couldn’t say he hadn’t been warned.
She pushed up her black lace sleeves and pointed to the
orange and white barricade. “Last warning. Remove yourself and that thing from
my way.”
He laughed at her. Laughed. At her.
She narrowed her eyes. This sorry excuse for a government
employee was not going to make her late for her meeting. Removing him from her
path, she decided, was a very necessary act indeed. She could make the council
members understand. But only if she got there on time.
With the tip of her red lacquered fingernail she traced a
circle in her palm, silently reciting the spell that would get her what she
wanted. A small, satisfied smile tugged at her lips as the man in front of her
began to levitate. She stroked her index finger sideways to help direct his
ascension. His shocked expression and angry torrent of curse words bothered her
not at all. He continued to fuss and kick even after he was hooked on to the
high crane by the back of his overalls. At over forty feet above the ground she
could barely make out his foul words.
Tessa flicked her finger across her palm with one last
quick swipe and waited while the barricade went flying to the side of the road
and crashed on a pile of rocks.
She waved farewell to the construction worker as she
slipped her Mercedes into drive. The fool would be wise to quit struggling or
he’d soon have a painful wedgie.
Silly mortal. He had no reason to panic. Someone would be
along to get him down. Eventually.

I loved everything about this book and really can't wait for the next instalment. ” ~ sarah brown
No one told me to have a glass of ice water at my side while reading Hex and the Single Witch. By the time I realized how much heat this book generates, I was too engrossed to put it down and too busy turning pages to go to the kitchen. Passion, desire and hot, steamy sex are a big part of this book but there's so much more. The sign of good Erotica is removing the sex and seeing if you still have a story, otherwise it's just porn. Hex and the Single Witch delivers a great story. This paranormal thriller will keep you guessing on a couple of levels and leave you anxiously awaiting the next release. ~ Deborah Sanders

Excerpt featuring Mike Malone:
“You should have
told me why you hate vampires so much. It was during the Hysteria wasn’t it?”
The damn Hysteria ruined and destroyed so many lives all thanks to a bunch of
power hungry vampires and Others who thought it was a good idea to let humans
know they existed. Like the witch hunts, the burning times from before hadn’t
proven that was a bad idea. But, no, they thought a new, modern generation of
humans could handle it.
The Hysteria
proved humans hadn’t evolved much. Of course, neither had the Others.
“Yeah,” he said
into his hands.
“You know I lost
my dad to vampires at the end. At the last battle. The rogues had the humans
all riled up. No one knew what was going on, the riot started and there was
this group of mercenaries, humans killing anything that moved. My dad’s team
tried to get them out of there, but as soon as they realized vampires and
Others were on the police squad the mercenaries decided to wipe everyone out.
My dad was shot and while he was down rogue vampires finished him off.”
“Then how can
you still be close to them?” Mike sneered.
“Humans played
their part in his death too, Mike. Can I shut myself off from the world and
hate everyone? It’s unrealistic. I understand your hate, but they are not all
bad.”
“They all drink
blood. They are monsters designed to kill humans.” His snarl looked ferocious.
I had not
realized his hate ran so deep.
“And humans are
designed to kill animals and each other. Doesn’t mean we all do.” Stubborn man.
“Anwyn, I’m
sorry I can’t look at them the way you do.” He glanced at me then stared at the
floor.
I touched his
face gently and made him look at me. “Mike you can’t carry pain and anger
around with you forever. Believe me, I know. I dragged it around with me for a
long time. I lost both my dad and my mom that night. Even though my mom still
lives and breathes, she’s not the same. But I can’t change it, and I can’t hate
everyone for it. I just have to accept it. I took this job to try and prevent
other kids from growing up with this pain and anger. Isn’t that why you took
this job too? You know we have to fight the bad guys and take help from all the
good guys we can, right?”
“Yeah,” he
muttered.
I caressed his
strong jaw. Goddess, he was a beautiful man. And more complex and tender than I
had thought. I took off his top hat and laid it on the desk so I could run my
fingers through his wild wavy hair. The move startled Mike and he looked at me
with a puzzled expression on his face for a moment before heat flared in his
eyes.
As soon as I saw
the flames in his eyes my body responded. A burning need rose inside me, an
ache suddenly needed to be filled.
Mike’s
expression changed into one that promised deliciously wicked things. Hot damn.

Book Description: Jagger Sintallon, a half-demon warrior, has dedicated his existence to fighting demons who enter the world through Hell gates. A loner of conflicting ideals, he offers shelter to a troubled woman but knows he is too rough, too dangerous, and too cocky for her delicate nature.
Dedicated to Divine Will, Sonya Camael, a Seraph, is determined to discover why she is drawn to Jagger's doorstep and the reason behind her mission. She needs the demon's help but fears he may get himself killed before she can figure it out and the world slips into Hell's dominion.
Sonya faces grave danger with evil stalking her every move, and Jagger shouldn't care but realizes he cares more than he'd likely admit. Sonya knows Jagger cannot win this war alone, but will her divine intervention mean his imminent end? Or will just the right combination of Heaven and Hell set the world right once again?
Excerpt:
Jagger hung his head, looking very much out of patience. With an exasperated huff, he turned in place, his boots clomping. Cocky stance, head back, and eyes daring her to say something. But these things she only partially registered because when he turned to face her, his entire upper body—chest, face, arms—glowed with the marks of past insult and injury. And that sickle shape burned into the skin over his heart—
She whimpered, heart-sick to see him in this way. Her mother's blood cried out at the thought of what agony he must have endured to stand here now, so marred and wounded. Covering her eyes, she dispelled the Seraph sight and fought the tears.
"Hey." He was in front of her within moments, pulling her hands down and leaning to peer at her downturned face. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"You. You've been through so much. Just look at you."
"I'd rather not. I'm not a pretty guy."
"Jagger. These scars. You have countless hurts. I can't see a part of you that isn't injured." She raised her eyes, tears brimming on her lower lashes. "Let me help you."
"What, you're a plastic surgeon?"
She swallowed and regained part of her composure. "Better."
He looked alarmed and rocked back on his heels. "You don't mean—"
"Yes, I do." She held onto his hands and kept him from backing away. This felt right, this decision.
His eyes shifted. "Ah, I don't think it's a good idea, doll. Our kinds don't mix well."
