Rose Shababy and her family reside in eastern Washington State. Rose grew up in the Northwest but swears she’s going to move to warmer climates someday. She’s claimed this for over 20 years, however, and has yet to move more than 75 miles away from her mother.

Rose has a deep love of all things Star Trek and yearns to travel the heavens, as well as an intense desire to be bitten by a radioactive spider.

Unfortunately she sucks at science and math so she hasn’t been able bring her dreams to life, instead living vicariously through books, comics, television and film. She hopes to someday make a million dollars so she can afford to buy her way to the international space station, but she’d settle for being able to fly around the world and leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Rose also loves to cook and worked for years in a gourmet Italian grocery and deli where she learned to hone her skills. She prepares culinary masterpieces for her family, but fervently wishes the dishes would wash themselves. Especially now that her dishwashers/children are nearly grown and only one still lives at home.

Rose likes to use her free time wisely. For instance, she likes to daydream, will often read for hours until she falls asleep on the couch with an electric blanket and a warm tabby cat curled up on her hip, as well as spending cozy weekend days watching Syfy movies like Sharknado and Mega Piranha with her husband.

If Rose were a cartoon animal, she’d prefer to be a wise old owl or a sleek and sexy jaguar, but in reality she’d probably be a myopic mole with coke-bottle glasses.

Clearly the time had come for the two of us to have it out. “I may have thought you were hot when we first met, and you got to listen to the nasty thoughts in my head, but every time we meet I find it harder to like you. In fact, every time you open your mouth, you get uglier and uglier. I don’t know if Val was right, and you really are jealous, but let me make this crystal clear for you. There is no part of me that wants you.”

His eyes narrowed for a moment, and then, before I could do anything, his hands shot out and grabbed my shoulders again. He yanked me close to him and I the heat from his chest burned through my t-shirt. His face was so close to mine I could feel his hot breath blazing against my cheek when he spoke. “You’re a little liar,” he hissed. “There is a part of you that likes this,” he shook me a little and I flushed with rage… and something else. “And goddamn me, there’s a part of me that likes it too.” He hovered with his face still close to mine and for a moment I thought he was going to kiss me. My head fell back slightly and my lips parted involuntarily as I anticipated his invasion.

Then he released me, almost flinging me away from him. I pressed my back against the wall as I watched him and tried to catch my breath as my traitorous heart beat so hard I thought it might burst out of my chest.

“Let me make this crystal clear for you,” he mimicked. “Kasey is like a brother to me and if you hurt him, you’ll wish you never met me.”

 “I already do,” I whispered with sincerity.

Greg T Meyers (1964) was born in the United States and graduated with degrees in Marketing and Psychology but after living in London, England he became fascinated with the European medieval period and spent the last 30 years of his life studying it.

Oddly enough, Greg rarely read fiction until he stumbled upon The Post Captain by Patrick O'Brien while in Panama. Being so drawn in, he read the entire 20 book series in short order and it was then he started entertaining the idea of writing a work of historical fiction himself. When asked what got him started writing Solar Minimum he said he was one day considering that everyone living today had ancestors that lived through the medieval period and that it is all a very real part of each of our individual past. It was then he started fantasizing what would happen if our trouble-ridden world were to plunge back into that period. "While life would certainly be harder, I think we would all be better for it spiritually," says Greg.

Greg began writing Solar Minimum in February of 2013 and finished all 575 pages in a short seven months. Solar Minimum is currently proposed to be a three book series with book two due mid 2014.

Roen & Tao's story continues a few years after where we left them in THE LIVES OF TAO. Now, Roen is married (and separated) to Jill, and they have a toddler son, Cameron, but Cameron lives with his maternal grandparents out in California. 

The war between the Prophus and the Genjix is escalating. Prophus, the general populace, continues on their regular battles, not believing Roen. Meanwhile, Roen follows Tao's suspicions and leaves the organization in pursuit of Tao's belief that something much greater is going on at the Genjix camp, besides the creation of superior specimens of human hosts. 

Although Roen misses his family, his wife Jill & their son Cameron, he is ever-focused on discovering what the Genjix are up to. By chance, he finally DOES discover that Tao's hunches were correct. And Roen aims to stop them for both the Quasing's future and the world's survival. The Genjix mean to achieve their goals no matter the consequences to humans and the humans who house the Genjix Quasings are so fanatical in their belief that the Quasings are deities that they are willing to sacrifice everything, especially Enzo, the human host to the Quasing Genjix leader, Zoras. Superior in form and trained since birth to focus on one ultimate end goal, Enzo is focused and determined to bring about the ultimate end: the goal of turning planet Earth to the home for the Quasings by changing the environment to make it conducive to Quasings, but uninhabitable for humans. Without humans, these Quasings would never have survived all these generations and years, but the Genjix don't care as they view humans as worthy to only be a means to an end whereas the Prophus are regretful for inhabiting humans and grateful to their hosts. It is this most basic of differences that is the cause for the battle and war between the two factions of Quasings. 

If you read THE LIVES OF TAO, you must read this sequel. It accomplishes that which you rarely see in a sequel: it surpasses the first book. Funny and poignant, at times heart-wrenching, this was a kindle bruiser as I had to read on. A fresh look on the world with that question of "what if..." I loved it!

I am a mother to three beautiful children, they keep me busy. I live in a small town that’s filled with monsters and really nice people alike. I love taking walks around the mountain trails where I live and I love taking trips to the Ocean, especially the South Carolina beaches. The ocean brings me tranquility and refreshes me, but I don’t get to go there often enough. Some mornings I listen to nothing but sad country songs for hours but when I write, I usually buckle down with my headphones and listen to something raw and angry like Seether, and Stone Sour. I can be shy around people but I’m mostly always honest within myself. In many ways, on many levels, I express different parts of myself through my characters. Someone told me once that you are only as old as you feel and I love that! In fact, I love that idea because personally, have no intentions of ever growing up! I want to be 18 forever no matter what they do to me. LOL!

A unique twist on vampire origins, this is a book to add to your list if you're a fan of the genre and of a main character prophesied to save the world and her main weapon is...sex.

A very interesting premise with vampires being aliens, and a small colony of humans fighting in the only way they know how, having been taught strengths by their savior, the doctor. Humans are either breeders, food, or waste in this dystopian future and this small band of rebels are fighting to change that.

It will be interesting to see how this continues in book 2!

I had no clue what the big deal was. I had no intention of talking to Akia again; well maybe one more time to get my wallet, but that was the end of it. He was the King for crying out loud. He had better things to do then sit and pine away over me. Even as I sat and thought that, I felt like my heart was breaking. It was a feeling that I wasn’t used to and I didn’t like it at all. I didn’t know what this Dominus had over me, but I sure as hell had no desire of doing anything that would hurt my family. Besides, I had been careful all day and I was sure that I wasn’t followed.

I was just as positive that Darien hadn’t lead anyone back here because if he had, I would be dead right now and so would all the others. He was way to too smart and paranoid for that. He was the kind of person that always paid attention to his surroundings. When he was working he was working and nothing else mattered. I am sure that was one of the reasons I cared so much about him. I wanted to meet his eyes so badly, I needed him to see me and I needed to show him that I really was OK and that I didn’t blame him for anything that had happened. Darien’s eyes never left Dr. Walker’s; I was really hoping that he wasn’t mad.

“Before the invasion occurred, there was a man named John Styron. Dr. Styron was a psychologist that claimed he had psychic powers. Not many people took this guy seriously, even though he helped the police on a few cases and his insights were always right. People thought that he was doing it for attention. I thought he was an honest man who gained nothing from his gift, so why would he make it up? The trouble and the grief placed upon him because he wanted to use his gift to help people would have been more than enough reason for a fake to drop the act and find a new scheme. This man however, pushed on despite the criticism. I read a lot of his work while I was in med school. I was fascinated with him and all the people that he helped. My obsession with him is the only reason that we are all here today. He wrote that a superior race would someday take this planet by force. He went into great detail about the 25 years of pain and suffering that the humans would endure. He said that the human race had never been face to face with such monsters and that contact with them would have devastating effects on the race in general. “

“The last prediction that he made before his death, which was exactly one week before the Vampires invaded, was somewhat vague compared to the other ones before it. It was about a child that would be born around the same time of the invasion. A child that would be human and blessed with a gift a thousand times more valuable than anyone has ever conceived of. He said the child would be able to walk among the intruders with great ease. This child would start a war between the monsters, but this war would be the child’s burden to bear and the child would eventually be faced with a decision that would change the world either for good or the bad.”

Dr. Walker stopped just as suddenly as he had begun. No one ever knew what the monsters Dr. Styron was talking about could possibly be. Some just assumed it was a play on words, attempting to predict another world war. Others ignored him completely and very few people took him seriously. We were arrogant as a race, born to think that we were untouchable, taught that we were the top of the food chain and nothing would ever change that, and anyone that spoke of a stronger being was written off as crazy and ignored completely.

“That is all there is. He never got to finish his prediction, or maybe the outcome wasn’t clear enough for him to see. No one knows; it is a secret that he took to the grave with him.”

When I was finally able to look away from Dr. Walker’s pale face I was shocked to see everyone’s eyes in the room glued on me. “What are you all looking at me like that for?” No one even blinked. It was like they were frozen in time. “Oh, come on; you can’t all be serious. That thing is not about me. It was just some crazy guy having nightmares about things that he knew no more about than any of the other humans.”

“You know, you really didn’t have to alter your appearance at all Cat. You have always looked like one of them, not to mention the fact that you never even had to learn mannerisms. You just do what they do; it is like second nature.” As the words flew out of Darien’s mouth he pointed to all my brothers and sisters. This little rant about me walking easily among the monsters upset me even more, because Darien was always on my side no matter what, and now he too was going to betray me because some loon had a dream about the end of the world. Maybe we weren’t as connected and as solid as I thought.

“Dr. Walker, you know this is ridiculous. That little prediction is no more about me than it is you, or anyone in this room for that matter. You are way too smart to believe in that kind of stuff anyway. Visions are not at all scientifically sound. Why do you waste your time on this? I messed up, I get it. I think figuring out if we are in danger because of my little mix up is more important than something some dead freak wrote, don’t you?”

“Well Catalina, I never said that I was a hundred percent convinced, nor did I say that I was positive that the Styron was real, but he saw something and he was right before. Not to mention the obvious fact that something happened to you. Something that was so powerful that it knocked you out cold and left the most revered Dominus scarred with a wound that resembled a cat’s claw slash.”

I felt the color drain out of my face; when he listed all the facts like that, it did seem more likely than I was comfortable with, but I would rather die than admit that to any of them.

“This is absurd and you all know it. The person that is supposed to turn the Vampire/Dominus reign upside down is not me. I am no different than the rest of you! All of you guys walk among them with ease. I mean, come on, are we so arrogant we think we are the only rogue humans running around? There were billions of people on the planet when they took over. It is highly unlikely that we are the only hope for mankind. I know you are all mad at me, but this is so not a fair punishment. Disown me, ignore me, tell me to get out, anything, just stop looking at me like I am some sort of savior.” There, that sounded convincing to me.

“Catalina, I promise you that there will be no jumping to conclusions. We will test this hypothesis before further actions are taken, and even if it turns out that you are the child that was dreamt about, I promise you we will all figure this out together and you will not have to do any of this alone. We have always been and we will always be a team.”

Dr. Walker sounded so nonchalant about this that I wanted to throw something at him. He could be the sweetest most caring man, the great father that use to star in the sitcoms of the past other times; but it was like he didn’t have a clue as far as people were concerned.

“No offense Doc, but I am not a science experiment or a lab rat. No one is testing anything on me.”

A_TiffyFit's Review: Thank you to the author and Xpresso Book tours for my read-to-review copy. The following review is my honest opinion and I have not been compensated in any way for it!

A highly imaginative young adult science fiction tale, PENDOMUS grasped my attention immediately with is descriptive settings and interesting technology such as the e-link. While that is totally unappealing to me in many ways, except perhaps for the vast amount of reading and knowledge I could have in an instant, the sleep chamber thing is a total dream come true for those of us who need more hours in the day to read!

Runa hasn't fit in with her Helix counterparts since she was born. Maybe it's the fact that she has light eyes and white hair whereas everyone else has brown hair and brown eyes, the darker melanin helping to cope with the environment. She loves being outside of the Helix, practicing her words instead of relying on the e-link. I disliked her brother Baxten and her distant mother. I disliked her brother because he told her that the reason the mother is distant is simply because Runa was born, reminiscing about the mother she USED to be before Runa. That's a crappy thing to say to your younger sister; she didn't ask to be born! Jerk.

Excited about her Professional Day and fully expecting a professional assignment to take her outdoors, she is shocked instead to receive a token telling her she is to something completely anathema to her personality. No one can change what you've been assigned in this ordered society; so Runa runs outside of the Helix.

Once outside, Runa is attacked by the Morph and found by Trae, a human living outside of the Helix. She had no idea there were so many humans on the outside or how they survived. And she is in a rude awakening about her RationCaps and all the things that they suppress and brainwash. It is quite an adventure story with a huge dose of destiny; Runa's fate has been written and now she needs to get it in action.

I am looking forward to reading more and see what becomes of Runa and Pendomus!

Zenn is a young woman who lives on the planet Mars. Yup. There's atmosphere on Mars and living there is possible. The "clear and invisible layer" like the Earth's formed and the people from Earth have now colonized it. As was done on Earth, those brave men and women set forth and populated it and cultivated the land for vegetation, bringing animal stock from Earth for ranching, too. In this tale, humans explored galaxies and other planets and developed relations with other beings from these far off places.

However, as is inevitable for our race of beings, not all humans are happy with the "mixing" with these alien lifeforms. Many, the radicals, wanted autonomy, no contact, however small. Although there are numerous benefits to mankind from these interactions, these radicals do not approve.

Zenn and her family and friends live at "The Cloister" - a veterinary hospital on Mars. Having grown up among multiple animals and beings, Zenn has affinity for them and she loves that there are so many different species of animals from so many different planets. Not only that, but she loves getting ot know the "aliens" from these different planets, too. Hamish, in fact, is one such alien who is also there at the Cloister to learn veterinary skills. He is an insect-like being but no less intelligent than human beings. In fact, I'd say he is better than some human beings because he isn't prejudiced or close-minded like they are. Hamish is a kind soul with a deeply compassionate heart...well two hearts! He demonstrates his character during one dangerous incident where Zenn surely would have died as he rose up to save Zenn's life without a second thought to his own safety.

Mars is in trouble, economic trouble due to the "rift" with Earth. For a long while now there's been no trade with Earth for the necessities and the Mars citizens are suffering harshly. On top of that, their means of transportation through the galaxies and planets is in danger as well. Recently their starships have been going missing without a trace and no one knows who, what, or how it is occurring.

One such missing ship contained Zenn's mother who had been on board to care for the lithohippus who had become ill. The space travels were possible for the Martians and other beings only because of these gentle gigantic animals who evolved through millions of years developing the ability to "jump" from one place to another in a blink -- of a sort. Without them, transportation between galaxies is not a possibility. Many millenniums ago some people, they do not know who as the history is lost now, learned to harness these gentle creatures allowing space travel to be possible and it has been passed down ever since. Zenn's mom, being a veterinarian to all different creatures, was attempting to help the sick lithohippus when she and the creature disappeared right before Zenn's, her dad's, and her uncle's eyes, who were there to see what they could do to help when they had received the news that Zenn's mom wasn't able to come out of the litho's body. She'd entered this being's body via spacepod to help get to the site of the illness when something went wrong and she got lost in it.

Hazardous events happen at the Cloister, one after another. Someone is sabotaging them to close out the Cloister and throw out Zenn's family. When they discover who it is, there is deep shock but the truth is made known.

Zenn sets out to rescue her father, who has been kidnapped for reasons unknown. This and the other recent events force Zenn to grow up fast and for the first time, she leaves the Cloister for unforeseen adventures.

Entertaining and imaginative, this was a fun read. My only complaint is I don't like the unfinished, ending to be continued! :) Luckily, book 2 is due out April 2014...not that long to wait!

Anya watched Sebastian from the corner of her eye as he went to work cleaning away the blood. He was focused and intent on his task, but couldn't seem to stop touching her in little ways. “Like you would never hurt me, no matter how angry you are, or how much you might want to.”

His golden eyes locked on hers with such intensity it stole her breath. “I would never want to hurt you.” Cupping her face, he rubbed his thumb along her unmarked cheek. “I could never hurt you. If anything ever happened to you, I fear I will be trapped on the Edge forever.” Leaning in, he lightly kissed her bruise. “I think of you constantly.” He kissed her forehead. “Always.” Then with the lightest touch, he kissed her lips.

With words so sweet, Anya couldn't help but lean into him. This wasn't the demanding kiss from before. This was soft, smooth, tender. This time he allowed her to explore him at her leisure. His lips were soft and warm, molded to hers, and she caressed them.

Her second real kiss ever was turning out to be the most erotic experience of her life. Sebastian was watching her with his liquid gold eyes, filled with restrained lust as he let her place soft kisses on him.

 A_TiffyFit's Review: Analia’s life was brutal, torturous, and horrific. It was worth risking death to escape her captors and if she could just make it off the ship and onto a merchant vessel, she could have her freedom. Hiding in the tiniest of crawl spaces amidst the ship’s wiring, weak from starvation, Analia has to make the decision to moan for help to survive or die quietly. When found and charged with being a stowaway, she embraces the chance at death by her own will. Denied this chance, Analia fears she is in captivity once again. 

I enjoyed reading this steamy, science fiction fantasy novel! Analia really comes into her own and it was fascinating watching the transformation from determined-to-be free slave to bubbling curiosity about everything she’s not seen in 400 years to daring & confident woman ready to defend her newfound family, even at the cost of her own life. 

I really want to know more about demons. I love stories with demons where the demons are NOT religious based. So many images flashed in my head as I was trying to determine what I thought Sonya, Cale, Malik, and Sebastian may look like. 

This is a fast-paced adventure with steamy romance and characters with layers. Book one in the series and now I want to read the rest and see how Analia’s story continues in her quest & how her family develops!
