I really enjoyed this first book in the FIGHTING CONNOLLYS series by Roxie Rivera. Not only do you have an intelligent, sweet, fiercely loyal and protective female protagonist, but you also have a hot ex-Marine flexing all those Alpha muscles we all love to read about: fiercely protective, strong, take charge. But then he loses it a little with the inner self-doubt monologues and then voicing to Bee that he isn't good enough for her because of his lack of education, middle class kind of deal. While not very Alpha of him, I did like this aspect, too -- heroes showing a touch of vulnerability makes them seem stronger.

I was livid, L-I-V-I-D, with Kelly and the bodyguards at one point in the book because I had...darn. I can't say or it gives it away. So let's just focus on the fact that Kelly almost totally blew it. There is no love without full trust and he jeopardizes that almost irreparably. This was a sweet and sexy romance with characters you feel like you would run into on the streets. I loved the three brothers and their camaraderie and how they support one another. I liked the mafia aspect and it spurred me on to get the Russian Protector series. (Book One is currently free! It's called IVAN; look for it on amazon!)

Bee also makes a really dumb mistake. She has a STALKER, has no self-defense skills, and yet thinks she can handle it on her own, going so far as to challenge the stalker for a meet and greet. Argh. I wanted to strangle her! lol

All in all, a lovely read with a plot that keeps on moving, (mostly) likable characters, a sexy romance that keeps building throughout the novel, and a satisfactory ending. HEA? You'll have to read to find out, but I can tell you NO CLIFFHANGER. Phew! 

IN JACK'S ARMS
When pawn broker Abby Kirkwood discovers the evidence of a chilling drug cartel hit on one of the video cameras hocked in her store, she turns to the only man she can trust—Jack Connolly.

The smolderingly sexy former Marine runs a successful gym down the street and coaches her brother's special needs baseball team. He's the one man who is always there when she needs him. If anyone can protect her family, it's commanding, capable Jack.

The moment he learns someone is threatening Abby and her brother, Jack sees red. To save the woman he's secretly loved for years, he'll do whatever it takes, even if it means facing off with a Mexican drug cartel and making deals with the same Albanian mob outfit that tried to ruin his family.

He finally has sweet, feisty Abby right where she was always meant to be—writhing with pleasure in his bed and safely sheltered in his arms. The vicious cartel assassin hot on her heels has no idea what he's up against.

The Connolly brothers are standing strong together—and no one touches their family.

 While I really enjoyed the first in this series, IN KELLY'S CORNER, I think I enjoyed Jack's story even more! I loved that there was this love for a woman that's he held secret for years and then finally gets to pursue and how it all worked out.

There is plenty of heat in this book as well and plenty of action. The plot doesn't stop rolling! I liked Mattie, Abby's younger brother, and how the Connolly brothers treat him. He may have Down's Syndrome, but they don't treat him as if he has a disability; they treat him like they would any younger brother. Abby's concern for her brother is an admirable trait as is her concern for others. Jack's pent-up desire for her, long-time love for her, and personality shine as he takes the necessary steps to protect her and Mattie and their lives. It gets pretty intense there with rival gangs, rival mafias, a hit, and everyone puffing out their chests.

At the end of this book, Roxie Rivera tells us that we will soon get to read about Besian and his crew in an upcoming series called DEBT COLLECTION.  Um...YES PLEASE! But first I need to finish off the FIGHTING CONNOLLY series and the HER RUSSIAN PROTECTOR series. Roxie Rivera is on the top of my "to buy" list now for hotsy totsy romances with excellent action and plots that keep you wanting more. And no cliffhanger! YAY!
