Addie’s family and friends think she should keep the relationship a secret from Cael so he isn't forced into feelings he can't remember. Just what she needs, more secrets and on top of everything else, someone stole the crystal. How is she supposed to get over the loss of her lover, a lover she'd barely had for only a few short months and deal with the secret of the lost crystal at the same time?

Aiden wants nothing more than to help Addie overcome her grief and get over Cael. Or is that all he wants? What happens when too many people know the secret and someone slips up?

Susan Griscom daydreams often. And sometimes her daydreams interfere with her daydreams not to mention real life. Because, let’s face it, her character’s lives are so much more exciting. Sometimes it’s young adult or new adult or just plain old mainstream fiction. Sometimes it’s paranormal romance, where her playing field delves into a different milieu than the usual vampires and werewolves. Some day she might write about fangs and fur, but for now she prefers sticking to strong heroes and heroines confronted with extraordinary forces of nature, powers and abilities beyond the norm, mixed with some steamy romance to get the blood boiling.

Susan lives in the Sierra Foothills in Northern California with her very romantic husband, her small yippy dog, Riley, and her humongous black cat, Saké. Her family consists of his and hers; four wonderful sons and one beautiful daughter, and seven grand angels.

Susan loves when a story takes hold and pulls her into the fantasy, that's magic.

This book started off with a BANG! At first you're just enjoying the wedding, and then suddenly there's intense action that ends with a severe consequence that perplexed me at first. I loathed Addie in the beginning. I cannot stand women who act like that: HE ISN'T DEAD. He's just missing! And instead of being pro-active and hopeful, she's melancholy and brooding and starving herself and then she perks up when this guy pays attention to her? UGH. Okay, to be fair she rebuffs the guy, but when he is constantly telling you how much he wants to be with you, you don't encourage a flipping friendship! ARGH. Needless to say, she irritated me a lot.

Luckily, she doesn't remain such an asinine twit for very long once Cael returns, even if he doesn't remember her. This was the first in the Whisper Cape series that I've read and it completely intrigued me. Not only do we have these people with powers, but then you have this MESSED up family situation that is just...wow. I didn't see it coming at all. Was there a hint of it in books 1 and 2? Now I'm going to have to get them to find out. Steamy romance, sweet family touches, and a fast paced plot, this was a fun PNR to read.

He took slow cautious steps across the lush green carpet of grass blanketing the yard on the way to the archway. He didn’t want to startle her. Addison sat crying, crouched down on her legs, her head in her hands, the hood on her sweatshirt bunched up at the nape of her neck. He placed the bag with the food on the ground and sank down in front of her. Something in his gut told him he needed to comfort her. Taking her wrists in his hands, he pulled her to him. She looked up at him and he was surprised when she practically threw her arms around his neck as if she’d done it a million times before and buried her face in his chest. He held her close, a comfortable fit, he mused, as he let her cry against him, wishing he could take away her pain. He had to find that crystal. He didn’t think he could stand to see her this miserable for very long.
She tilted her head up, studying his eyes and he found himself mesmerized with hers. Her cheeks glistened with tears and she ran her tongue over her lips just a short inch away from his own. He closed his eyes because he couldn’t stop the thought of how her lips would feel if pressed against his, or how sweet her mouth would be if he could only taste it. All of a sudden, her lips were on his, hungry, urging, and damned if he didn’t kiss her back. He knew it was wrong, kissing someone else’s woman, but still, he found his lips parting to accept her tongue, tasting it. He groaned at the sensation and felt himself harden as she moaned before slowly pulling away, keeping her arms around his neck as her lips grazed his throat. “Take me inside,” she cooed into his ear with heavy sounds of breathlessness and excitement. He wanted her more than he’d ever wanted another woman in his entire life, but she belonged to someone else. “Please, take me inside and make love to me.”
An uncontrollable growl emanated from deep within his throat. She had no idea how much he wanted her, the magnitude of the prospect surprising even himself. He could barely utter his next words. “Ahhh, baby, you have no idea how badly I’d love to do that.”
“Then do it.”
Pulling back slightly, he studied her eyes, searching for a sign she might not be in her right mind, and tried to figure out if she was serious. He wanted her, there was no doubt about that and she certainly acted like she wanted him.
