Spotlight: Norma Jean by Amanda Heath

Mrs. Potter’s Book Publicity Services Presents
A Month Long Blog Tour For:
Norma Jean
By: Amanda Heath

Blurb:
The night Chance Duncan drunkenly kissed me on his couch, I vowed my revenge. I finally had something over his head, something that would bring him to his knees. It only served him right. He bullied me for years and turned me into this messed up person I am now.

Though I didn’t know at the time he wasn’t that mean little boy
anymore. He was almost a man and easily stole my breath away. I just wanted to make him fall in love with me, then break his heart into a million pieces. Just the way mine was. Instead he put the pieces back together and I started to feel whole again.

Good things never last. He did what I was supposed to do. Broke my already fragile heart all over again. Betrayed and alone I fled my home town and started a new life where I wasn’t in the shadow of what I did.

Now he is back and trying to worm his way into my heart, again. Though he will never know it will always belong to him. He hurt me and I want nothing to do with him. Life has other plans. Doesn’t it always?

He doesn’t know though. Doesn’t know what I’m hiding or who I’m hiding from. I never thought I would see Chance again and I’m afraid that he’ll get hurt getting mixed up in my mess. Though he is right in the middle of it, without even knowing it. I have to find a way for us to
get out, before somebody dies.

My name is Norma Jean and this isn’t a fairytale.

*This title is a new adult novel and not for those under 18 for sexual content and subject matter.*

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Q)  As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
A)  I wanted to be a writer. I have always wanted to be a writer and its amazing to get to live that dream.

Q)  What inspired you to write your first book?
A) Little things. I listened to stories from family members and friends, and slowly but surely my first book went from one little thought to an entire novel.

Q)  Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
A)  Research is any authors best friend. It pays to be correct when it comes to that kind of thing. I have even come to say Google is my best friend.

Q)  What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating any of your books?
A)  That anyone actually likes my books. When I released my first novel I thought for sure one or two people would buy it and that would be that. It surprised the heck out of me when that book made it on the top 100 on Amazon and B&N, and stayed there for weeks. I was humbled and over joyed by the response.

Q)  What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
A)  I have a playlist on my iPod that I make beforehand for each book. Most authors do but if I stop writing for a minute or finish a chapter, when I come back I can’t start where I left off on the playlist. I have to start the shuffle over again.

Q)  Is there a message in your novel/novels that you want readers to grasp?
A)  I try and put real life situations into my books. I want people to understand that life isn’t all butterflies and rainbows. Life is real and it can suck. But I also want people to understand that love can make it through anything.

Q)  What books have most influenced your life most?
A)   Anything by Abbi Glines. I am a huge fan and to see how she went from a little old indie to a huge published super star. I also love Misty Provencher. Her book Hale Maree really put a fire under my bum to get my stuff together.

Q)  If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in any of your books?
A)  No I would not. They came to me the way they are. Yeah I might not like some of the things that go on, but that’s one of those things you have to live with. My characters have minds of their own and like real people they do things I don’t like. I feel as if it would change the entire book if I went in and change anything. That leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Q)  Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
A)   My fifth grade teacher read the first Harry Potter book to us in class. I remember the looks on the other students faces and how entranced they were. I wanted to do that. Make people fall in love with a book.

Q)  What was the hardest part of writing your books?
A)   My child. I didn’t have a desk at the time and she would run up and press the delete key or turn my computer off and I would lose half of my story. She is a handful and I’m glad that I have a place to go now to write.

Q)  Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
A)   Don’t go into any of my books and expect the story to be full of sunshine and roses. Yeah there will always be a happy ending but what comes between the beginning and end is ugly and its real.

Q)  What were the challenges (research, literary, psychological, and logistical) in bringing your characters to life?
A)   Names for one. Its hard to find names that no one else has used or will be using in a best seller. I want my characters to stand out with their names so people can remember them. It was also hard to write like I was male. I like most women don’t know what goes on in the male brain. That’s when I started asking my husband and male friends what they would do or say in some of the situations.

Q)  What are you working on now?
A)  I’m writing the second book in my Young Love series, Wrong Kind of Love. This Beautiful Thing was my first novel and since the new book is about characters from it, I have lots of people waiting on me to finish.

Q)  Who is your favourite hero/heroine/character from your own books? What about of all time?
A)   Norma Jean, no doubt. She is the most like me and she has gone through some of the same things I have. Plus she was super fun to write. Of all time would have to be Jericho Barrons from Karen Marie Monings fever series. He was so out of the norm for me and I couldn’t help but to fall madly in love with him.

Q)  If you could have take one of your book boyfriends out on a date in the real world, who would it be & where would you go?
A)  Oscar Maree from Misty Provencher’s Hale Maree. He is the bees knees and I wouldn’t mind going up to his cabin by the lake. wink
