Necromancer, zombie plague, witch, woot! Is it any wonder I jumped at the chance to read this?
Judy Hudson doesn't know who she is; she has no clue as to her origins, only that she was found as a young child and named by the Sisters. At eighteen years old, she's taken from the only home she's known by the Father, and dumped at a stone circle monolith with nothing but clothes on her back. She's found by Purah, who immediately calls her "my love" and says he's been waiting for her.
As Judy discovers more of her powers under Purah's guidance, she raises a spirit, Evelyn. Trying to right the wrong, Judy discovers there are other necromancers out there and not all of them have good intentions...
I really liked the idea of this book. It has so much going for it that make it incredibly intriguing and yet incredibly complicated, too. It took me a while to understand what was going on as the beginning of this book seemed a bit disjointed and I just had so many questions that remained unanswered. The language of the story is pretty and descriptive, the plot tumbling forward and backwards as we get bits and pieces of the past to now.
I'd love to learn more about Lyken the Imp; a minor character in the book, but I found him fascinating! With stone dragons, a raven/crow spirit guide, Evie the Ghost, Purah, and others, there are a bunch of characters and histories I'd love to know more about.
